SM Pict

Congratulations on deciding to be a leader for your unit's Summer Camp stay!

Your Scouts will benefit greatly by your decision and commitment.  Their time spent at camp will prove to be a wonderful experience due to your participation and guidance.  The challenge of helping boys develop into men is what it means to be a Scoutmaster.  The values that are an intrinsic part of being a Scout, are the components needed to be good citizens in one’s community.  As a Scoutmaster, you are setting a strong example for the young men of tomorrow.

OCKANICKON SCOUT RESERVATION is owned and operated by the Bucks County Council, Boy Scouts of America. Since 1940, our mission has been to offer quality summer camp programs to all Scouts. Our camp is regionally and nationally recognized for both our fine facilities and program and Ockanickon Scout Reservation is routinely inspected and consistently meets the standards set down by the B.S.A. National Office for an Accredited Boy Scout Summer Camp. All key staff members are trained through the B.S.A. National Camp School system and many staff members are trained in C.P.R., basic first aid and emergency procedures. We hold ourselves to the highest local and state standards in food service and property management. We are proud of our camp, its history and its goals. As a staff, we are dedicated to our Camp and its mission.  We hope that your stay at Ockanickon will be a positive, fun-filled experience for both you and your Scouts.

What's New in the 2008 Leader and Program Guide
  • Information about new 2008 programs like Geocaching, the Ockanickoniderod, and the Ockanickon Map Course
  • The Index Page, a giant list of links crossing all of Ockanickon's program and policies
  • The name, Scoutmaster Guide didn't accurately represent the program specifics that had been integrated into the guide on top of the Leader information and camp policies.
  • More detailed information about programs, rather than simply listing times of activities many more details about program that surrounds badges like extra time reminders and more details on some badge programs.
  • A much more detailed camp map with accurate representations of distances for most of the sites in camp.
  • Links to actual descriptions of merit badge pre-requisites in addition to the numbers
  • A consistent style has been applied to the whole guide so it'll display consistently across browsers and views.  The original version was built on top of a simple Office 2000 document and didn't always look right.
  • Ages & Stages recommendations and guidelines for more program areas
What Will Be Coming to the Ockanickon Web Site
  • Regular updates on ever expanding program and some possible changes
  • The Ockanickon mailing list
  • A new way of generating printable versions of the web page without using PDFs
