** All Aquatics Merit Badges Require that scouts pass the BSA Swim test in order to take the badges. **All Scouts need to have water shoes or old sneakers that can get wet in the lake.

       Kayaking BSA

                        When: Monday to Friday   11am to Noon

                        Pre-Req: Must be Swimmer

   Notes:

  • Requirements will take 1-2 days to complete.
  • Class Size Limited
    • 4 people (1 day class) or up to 8 people (takes 2 days)
    • First come, first serve.

 

Paddlecraft Safety

            Designed to teach leaders a more in-depth knowledge of canoeing skills, this week long program will give you both the practical and planning knowledge for your troop to go on a trip involving boating. This is a required leaders certification for your troop to go boating.

 

            When:                Monday thru Friday

                                          9:15am to 11:30am

           Age:                       Must be at least 16 years old

           What to Bring:     Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen

           Recommended to Bring:

                            A copy of a trip plan for a canoe trip you’ve done.

                            Knee pads

This is Matt’s seventh year on staff at Ockanickon. He began as a CIT, worked as an Aquatics Aide, and is now in his second year as Lake Director. Matt just finished his freshman year at Shippensburg University, where he majors in Criminal Justice.
